For the deck, 905 Reno publishes these Toronto rates for a 600 to 900 sq ft space: $3,500 to $6,800 to clean and reseal existing concrete, $9,000 to $15,500 to replace it completely with stamped concrete, $14,500 to $22,000 to put travertine pavers over the current base, and $19,000 to $32,000 to construct a new deck with base preparation in 20 mm porcelain pavers. The top number is more than three times the top number for the liner.

The gap from $3,500 to $6,800 up to $19,000 to $32,000 in the 905 Reno figures mostly reflects base preparation, not materials. A refresh works with the base already in place. A new deck requires one to be dug.

Tell every contractor who prices the job that the structure underneath is sound and only the surface is worn, and ask straight out whether a refresh and reseal can be done. That single question saves you more than any haggling over the final number.

905 Reno prices replacing the coping on its own at $2,800 to $6,500 for a typical 80 ft perimeter, and warns that pairing a new porcelain deck with aged limestone coping creates a $4,000 problem later on.
