Frequently asked questions

Do these calculators need my email address?

No. Every tool here computes and shows its answer on the page, with the arithmetic written underneath it, and none of them puts a number behind a form. If a calculator has to take your contact details before it will tell you anything, what it is really doing is collecting a lead, and that is a different product wearing a calculator's clothes.

Where do the prices in these tools come from?

The same researched files that sit behind our cost guides: published Canadian sources, one named against every figure, with the URL printed at the bottom of each tool. Where two Ontario companies published different numbers for the same job, the range was widened to cover both. Nothing here is a national average converted from US dollars.

Are the results a quote?

No, and no calculator can be. A quote depends on things this page cannot see: how a machine reaches your backyard, what is under the grass, how far the gas and electrical runs are, and what a company already has booked for the season. Use the range to know whether a quote is in the right postcode, then get real numbers from real companies.

How often are the figures updated?

The cost figures are refreshed when the underlying pricing research is refreshed, and the date at the top of each tool tells you when that page last changed. The conversion factors and formulas do not change: they are statute, or published industry rules, and both are cited on the page that uses them.
