What information does PoolBuilderIndex collect?

PoolBuilderIndex collects the details you enter in a quote request: your name, email, phone number, service, area or postal code, and the project details you choose to share. Your IP address and the browser identification string your browser sends are recorded alongside that request and travel with it into the notification email we receive. We use them to stop one source flooding the form with junk and to work out where a failed submission came from. We do not ask for sensitive information like financial account numbers, and you should never send it to us.

How does PoolBuilderIndex use your information?

We use the information in your request to read and answer it. We may use your email to reply to you or to ask about that specific project. PoolBuilderIndex does not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated advertising. Server logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse.

Who does PoolBuilderIndex share your quote details with?

Nobody. This is important, so we state it plainly. When you submit a request it is emailed to the PoolBuilderIndex desk. What you send through the quote form is passed to one pool company in your area, with your consent; nothing else is sent on to pool companies, it is not published, and it is not sold or traded. If a request ever needs to go to a company, we will ask you first. The email is delivered by Resend, our email provider, and Google Analytics never receives it.

Does PoolBuilderIndex use cookies or analytics?

Analytics yes, cookies of our own no. PoolBuilderIndex sets no cookies itself. It loads Google Analytics 4 on every page to count visits, and the only two cookies on this site are the ones Google Analytics sets: _ga and _ga_VB1S6STZD0, which last about two years unless you clear them. We use it to see how many people arrive, which pages they read and roughly where they came from. We do not use it to identify you, and we run no advertising pixels or cross-site trackers.

One other thing is kept in your browser, and it is not a cookie. On a phone, a bar with a link to the request form sits at the bottom of the screen. If you hide it, that single choice is saved in your browser's session storage so it stays hidden while you look around, and it is discarded when you close the tab. It is never sent to us and it holds nothing about you. The quote form itself stores nothing: close the tab part-way through and the answers are gone.

To opt out, install Google's browser opt-out add-on, block or delete cookies for this site in your browser settings, or browse in a private window. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

An earlier version of this policy said we ran no analytics and that we would update this page before adding any. The tag went live on 19 August 2026 and the policy was corrected the same day, so for part of that day this page was wrong. We are saying so here rather than quietly rewriting it.

Where does PoolBuilderIndex get its business listing data?

Our index is compiled from public sources. Company names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, ratings, review text and photos are drawn from public Google Maps data and from the businesses' own websites. This is public business information, not private personal data, and no business pays to appear or to rank. Ratings, reviews and photos remain the property of Google and the people who posted them. We publish a copy of that public information alongside our own ranking, which is explained in full on our methodology page.

How does a listed business get its listing removed or corrected?

If you own a business we list, or you are authorised to act for it, you can ask us to correct the listing or take it down. There is no cost, and you never have to buy anything or agree to anything to be removed.

Email corrections@poolbuilderindex.ca and include:

• The business name exactly as it appears on the site.
• A link to the listing page you are writing about.
• Whether you want the listing removed entirely, or which specific details are wrong and what they should say.
• Something that connects you to the business, such as an email address at the company's domain or the phone number shown on the listing. We ask for this so that nobody can remove or alter a competitor's listing.

We review every request we receive. Where we can confirm the request comes from the business, we remove the listing page and exclude the business from later refreshes of the dataset, or apply the correction to our copy of the data. We will reply to you at the address you write from.

One limit worth stating plainly: ratings, review text and photos originate on Google Maps. We can remove or correct our copy of them, but we cannot change or delete anything on Google itself. Those requests have to go to Google.

What are your privacy rights under PIPEDA?

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information PoolBuilderIndex holds about you, request a copy, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at corrections@poolbuilderindex.ca. Because your request is never passed on to a pool company, there is no other copy of it to chase.

How does PoolBuilderIndex comply with CASL?

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs commercial email. PoolBuilderIndex sends only transactional messages tied to a quote you requested, such as confirmations and follow-ups about that job. We do not send marketing newsletters or promotional blasts. If we ever introduce optional marketing email, it will be strictly opt-in with a clear unsubscribe link in every message, as CASL requires.

How does PoolBuilderIndex store and retain your data?

Requests arrive as email and are kept only as long as needed to answer them, then deleted. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure.

Your information is processed outside Canada, and we would rather name the companies than leave you guessing. This site is hosted by Vercel, on servers in several countries; the code that receives a quote request runs in Vercel's US East region, so a request you send is handled in the United States. The notification email is delivered by Resend, also in the United States. Google Analytics sends what it collects to Google in the United States. Email you write to the address below reaches us through Forward Email, which passes it into a Google-hosted mailbox, again in the United States. Those four companies are the whole list.

How do I contact PoolBuilderIndex about privacy?

For any privacy question or request, email corrections@poolbuilderindex.ca. Requests are handled by The Pool Trade Desk. If we make material changes to this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Please also review our terms of service, which govern your use of PoolBuilderIndex.

What happens to what I send through the quote form?

If you fill in the quote form, we pass your name, contact details and your description of the job to one company listed in your area, so they can quote the work. One company, never a list, and never a pool of firms bidding against each other for you. The form will not send until you tick the box that says so, and that tick is recorded with the date and the exact sentence you agreed to. If you change your mind afterwards, write to us and we will delete what you sent.

Nothing else about you goes anywhere. Reading this site sends nobody anything.PoolBuilderIndex sells no leads and no company can buy a better position: the order on every list comes from a published formula. When you call a company from a profile here, that call goes straight to the company, and we are not told it happened.
